Democratic Representative Al Green of Texas introduced new articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Monday, accusing the administration of utilizing federal immigration agencies as unconstrained enforcement bodies in violation of constitutional mandates.
The resolution seeks to impeach President Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors, alleging that executive directives have altered the operational scope of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
"President Trump has used ICE and CBP to suppress the First Amendment rights to free speech and a free press; violate the Fourth Amendment right to privacy and protections against unlawful searches and excessive force; and defy the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment guarantees of due process and equal protection by allowing and encouraging racially targeted arrests, unjustified detentions, and unjustified killings."
Representative Al Green stated in the official impeachment resolution introduced on the House floor.
The filing represents the latest in a series of impeachment efforts introduced by Representative Green throughout President Trump’s terms in office. In June 2025, Green forced a floor vote on impeachment articles concerning foreign policy decisions and military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which was tabled by a 344-79 vote following bipartisan opposition.
Representative Green, who lost his Democratic primary runoff for Texas’s 18th Congressional District to Christian Menefee in May, is serving out the remainder of his term in the House of Representatives.
The legislative move coincides with expanding national campaign fundraising efforts as both major political parties prepare for competitive midterm congressional elections. Republican political action committees and affiliated campaign funds have accumulated substantial financial reserves ahead of the fall campaigns.
Addressing reporters prior to departing for South Carolina on Air Force One, President Trump highlighted the financial positioning of Republican campaign committees and political action groups.
"Well, I’ve raised a lot, and nobody knows what it is, but I will tell you it’s about $850 million."
